Former ATTILA Frontman Vincent Paul Manfredi Dies Aged 53

Vincent Paul Manfredi – former vocalist and bass player with New York City-based heavy metal band Attila – died on September 7th, 2017 at the age of 53. No immediate cause of death was announced.

Vincent Paul Manfredi

Manfredi was born on July 28th, 1964. He grew up in Holbrook, New York, and attended Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Attila were formed in late 1983 by guitarist John DeLeon, with Vincent Paul (Manfredi’s stage name) and drummer A.T. Soldier (aka Anthony Tedeschi) joining the ranks in the summer of 1984. The trio issued several demos which proved popular among tape traders around the globe and helped garner the band a strong underground following. In 1985 Attila appeared on two compilation albums – Speed Metal Hell (New Renaissance Records) and Metal Over America (Mausoleum Records) – before securing a record deal with Shattered Records. Produced by The Rods drummer Carl Canedy, the band’s sole full-length studio album Rolling Thunder was released in 1986.

After Attila split in late 1986, Vincent Paul Manfredi went on to play with several other bands across America, including Assassin, Raven Black, Big Luck & Touble, and Law Of The Land.

At the time of his death, Manfredi had been collaborating with Heaven And Hell Records who are due to reissue Rolling Thunder as a limited edition (500 copies) CD. The re-mastered version will come complete with multi-page booklet, including lyrics, full band history, and never before seen photos.
