ZZ Top have announced the death of drummer Frank Beard. Beard was in hospice care when he died on August 17 at his ranch in Richmond, TX with family members at his side.

Following Frank’s passing, ZZ Top has canceled its upcoming shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs. The band will resume its current The Big One! Tour this weekend with two dates at Austin City Limits, one of Frank’s favorite venues and in a city that had been something of a second home for him.

Beard had been with ZZ Top since 1970 and played on all their albums. He is the second classic member of the band to have died following Dusty Hill’s death in July 2021 at the age of 72.
